Passive voice

GCSE Spanish passive: ser + past participle, por + agent, se passive for they/one, and when active is safer in writing.

Ser passive formation

Ser in tense needed + participle (-ado/-ido, irregular escrito, dicho, visto, puesto, roto, abierto). La fiesta fue organizada por el instituto. Futuro: será terminado. Imperfect: era conocido. Agreement is mandatory: el problema fue resuelto; las puertas fueron cerradas. GCSE production: one sentence if secure; otherwise active.

Se + verb — very common

Se habla español = Spanish is spoken / they speak Spanish. Se venden frutas = fruit is sold. Verb agrees with thing: se vende (singular), se venden (plural). Not full ser passive but exam texts love it. Do not confuse with reflexive se: Juan se lava versus se vende pan.

Reading/listening: spot fue/son/sido + participle. Writing: prefer active or se: En mi instituto se estudia mucho. One ser passive for range: El uniforme es llevado por todos los alumnos — only if agreement is right.
