Cod eat smaller fish and invertebrates. Overfish cod → more herring or sprat (if predators gone) OR system collapses if whole trophic level removed. Fishing down the food web: when big fish gone, catch smaller species. Bioaccumulation: toxins in big predatory fish (mercury) is a human health angle. For GCSE, name trophic level, overfishing, and reduced biodiversity. Link to 10% rule: less fish biomass at top means energy was already lost lower down — short chains are fragile.
